Where Mediocrity Kicks Perfection's Ass

Gosh, guys, I’m really sorry.

I normally have a Monday post up and at ‘em but I woke up this morning with a migraine aura. It’s the flickering-edged stars that mean I’m about to get slammed by a killer migraine that will last two days. I took a new medicine prescribed for me by the (ancient, yet I totally have a creepy crush on him…) neurologist I saw Friday. He ‘didn’t find anything’ on my brain scan thingy (not surprisingly) so it looks like for some reason I am just getting plagued by these killers.

The medicine whacked me out, plus all 4 kids are home today (blizzard dumped two feet on us) AND tomorrow…and I usually blog when they are at school. Which they won’t be for the forseeable future. God help me.

Anyhoo, I am thrilled to announce that tomorrow, here at Pajamas and Coffee, is an interview with Jenny, The Bloggess. So please stop by again!

I have days like that! I also get migraines too. The not so fun Kaleidoscope vision is never a welcomed event. The doc thinks mine were caused by two sever rear-end accidents within 12 months that cause pretty serious whip-lash injury. Hope the new meds offer you some relief.

BTW, just discovered your blog…love the name! Enjoying reading old posts today on the slow snowy day in SW Colorado.

Oooo… Good luck honey. That sounds awful. All of it! Looking forward to the JtB interview.

I suggest an adaptation of the "do not talk to me unless someone is on fire" rule I use for when I'm on the phone. It never works, but maybe your kids are more responsive than mine.

dude, I"m so sorry. I've had "optical migraines' for 17 years now-yep, get the clear squiggly things, which eventually (within a few minutes) completely obliterate my vision, but I have yet to have a migraine headache after this event. My neurologist told me I'm lucky. Once, I had the clear squigglies, and then opened my mouth and vomited without notice. I thought "who-boy here we go, I bet I"m going to start getting the migraine headache after" and well, I didn't. It was weird.

I do get headaches, and I would even qualify some of them as "migraine" type, since I get completely knocked down by them (dark room, no noise, no function) for the entire day. But I don't get them often enough to take anything for them.

    So sorry you're enduring them.

  10. Feelin' ya on the ME-grains (I love the way the Brits say that).. I get em too. Those freakin' cartoon stars are a sure fire sign of impending DOOM! My only advice.. well actually it's Suzy's advice… Oxycontin washed down with Jack D!… sing it PJ&C crew!

Sorry you are being plagued by migraines. Have you tried you know something like Chinese medicines? (AND I am NOT suggesting it because I am Chinese! Well, I am, but that's not the reason… well, anyway…) Sorry it sucks. (Not the being Chinese part but the migraines…)

Get better soon. And I want to tell you the picture of your house in the ABOUT section? LOVELY. Just lovely.

Oh Mary! I’m feeling for you, like in a relating sorta way. I get migraines and they are NOT fun. There is only one medicine that I have found so far that will knock them straight out within half an hour – and I can only get it in Holland. And it’s OVER THE COUNTER there (can you believe this?!?!) Its called Sarixell and everytime my other half’s family come to visit or send a package they send me a pack or two. Bless their little friggin hearts….I love those people.

I hope you feel better soon and that the kids do everything just to sneak around and not actually speak for the entire day. You never know, it MIGHT happen! I’m sending all kinds of positive vibes for ya xx

Wow- I just want to thank all you guys for leaving such kind 'get well' comments! They really cheered me up! (sniff)

I think the kids being home for like 10 snow days in a row is def contributing to the excruciating-pain-in-head thing.

    Love you guys!!
